More than 50,000 people took to the streets of Milan, joining a nationwide strike across Italy. The march set off at 10:30 from Piazza Cairoli, passed the U.S. Consulate and finished at Milano Centrale station. After the march ended there were clashes with police, concluding with a stand-off that finished around 22:00. Eleven people were arrested; a fire inside an apartment, reportedly caused by police grenades, was promptly extinguished.
